Ceremony honouring Vietnamese language held in Laos

The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos hosted a ceremony at Phat Tich Pagoda in Vientiane, Laos, on September 7 to mark the Day for Honouring Vietnamese Language in Vietnamese Communities Abroad (September 8).

Speaking at the ceremony, Chargé d'Affaires of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos Phan Minh Chien emphasised that the Vietnamese language is an extremely valuable asset of the country and people of the Vietnam.

In recent years, the Party and State have paid special attention to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural identity of the nation and the Vietnamese language, he noted.

He said that the ceremony aimed to honour the value of the Vietnamese language, spread the love for the Vietnamese language, and promote the movement of teaching and learning Vietnamese in the Overseas Vietnamese communities and international friends.

Participants at the event took part in various activities, including a story-telling competition and art performances in the Vietnamese language.

On the occasion, the Association of Vietnamese People in Vientiane announced the launch of the Vietnamese language board, which is in charge of designing programmes and activities to popularise Vietnamese Party and State's policies on preserving and promoting the Vietnamese language, contributing to spreading the language and culture of Vietnamese identity in the OVs community, as well as the host country.
