The official made the remark at the opening ceremony of the 4th ASEAN Graphic Art Competition and Exhibition – Vietnam 2024, which was held in the northern city of Hai Phong on December 6 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Hai Phong City People's Committee.
The event, which has been held every four years since 2012, not only raises understanding and solidarity among ASEAN countries but also provides a platform for artists in the region to connect and showcase their latest works of creativity.
Launched on May 31, this year’s event received 530 entries submitted by 283 artists from across all 10 ASEAN member countries.
Utilising various genres of metal engraving, woodcutting, monotype printing, and screen printing, the entrants explore the life, people, natural landscapes, peace, solidarity, cooperation, and friendship of ASEAN countries.
The jury, comprising graphic art experts from Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan, selected 151 works from 131 artists for display, and presented 16 prizes to the best works, including one first, three second, five third, and seven consolation prizes.
