Co-organised by Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, the Central Commission for Communication and Education and the Vietnamese Journalists Association, the conference aimed to affirm the role and enhance the quality of the system of Party newspapers and spread the spirit of innovation in both form and quality to make Party newspapers truly appealing to the public.
The event was attended by Politburo member and Permanent member of the Party Central Committee (PCC)'s Secretariat Vo Van Thuong; PCC Secretary and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia; and PCC members: Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, Deputy Head of the PCC Commission for Communication and Education, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association Le Quoc Minh; Secretary of the Da Nang Municipal Party Committee cum Head of the municipal National Assembly Deputies' delegation Nguyen Van Quang; and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Dak Nong Provincial Party Committee Dieu K'ré; along with representatives of leaders of ministries, central agencies, provincial Party Committees and city Party Committees; leaders and professional staff of 64 Party newspapers nationwide; and experts in press management, press policy making and information technology, modern journalism.

Through six discussion sessions, the delegates highlighted the need for innovation in Party newspapers, as well as measures to enhance the content quality to maintain the position of Party newspapers.
The conference also discussed digital transformation and technological application in journalism, how to build readership with multi-channel and multi-platform journalism and how to diversify revenue sources for news agencies.
Speaking at the closing session of the conference, Vo Van Thuong stated that the Party newspaper system has a long history full of tradition and glorious achievements. As an important, pioneering and pivotal force in the revolutionary press system, the Party newspaper has always been an important means of communicating and introducing the Party's guidelines and directions, the State's policies and laws; vividly reflecting the great achievements of historical significance of the Doi Moi (Renewal) process; orienting and encouraging the entire Party, people and army in defending and building the Fatherland; and acting as an important information channel for the people to participate in building the Party and the political system.
However, the Permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat also pointed out the Party newspapers' limitations and shortcomings.
To meet demands of the new development phase, especially in the context of science and technology development constantly, and fierce competition for information, Vo Van Thuong emphasised that the Party newspapers must innovate more strongly, thus encouraging and inspiring aspirations to develop a prosperous and happy country.
Speaking at the closing session, PCC member, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, Deputy Head of the PCC Commission for Communication and Education, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association Le Quoc Minh stated that the conference on improving the quality of the Party Newspapers nationwide was jointly co-organised for the first time by the Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, the Central Commission for Communication and Education and the Vietnamese Journalists Association on the basis of the urgent need to find solutions to renew the content, improve the form, and overcome difficulties in mechanisms and policies, and seek technological solutions to increase interaction with readers of Party newspapers.
The innovation and creativity are an urgent requirement, as well as a need of each Party newspaper agency. In order to adapt and develop, besides keeping up with the development of communication technology, Party newspaper agencies need to strongly innovate in content according to the trend of modern journalism.

Le Quoc Minh emphasised that identifying these problems and finding solutions to overcome them will contribute to helping Party news agencies improve their quality and maintain their position and role in the Vietnamese revolutionary press system.
