The event was co-organised by the municipal Union of Friendship Organisations and the Viet Nam–Laos Friendship Association of Da Nang, in coordination with the Consulate General of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Da Nang and related units.
Speaking at the event, Vonekham Chueangmanivong, Consul General of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Da Nang, expressed pride at seeing the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Viet Nam being continuously strengthened and deepened.
She also expressed her impression of the close cooperation between Da Nang City and Lao localities. In particular, the recent working visit by the Secretary of the Da Nang Municipal Party Committee to the central and southern provinces of Laos in early April had left a very positive mark.
Extending New Year greetings to the Lao people, Tran Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee and Chairman of the Viet Nam–Laos Friendship Association of Da Nang, affirmed: “Today’s new Da Nang, with its position and resources, is becoming more deeply aware than ever of its mission and responsibility in strengthening friendship and development cooperation between Da Nang and the central and southern provinces of Laos. This is not only an international mission but also an inevitable requirement for our shared sustainable development, so as to continue and promote this close-knit relationship.”
On this occasion, representatives of universities and colleges in the city presented a symbolic board for 104 scholarships to support disadvantaged pupils and students in the central and southern provinces of Laos, in addition to the scholarships already granted under the commitments signed between Da Nang City and Lao localities.
At the ceremony, in a warm and affectionate atmosphere, the Bunpimay 2569 festival brought together more than 500 people to celebrate and pray together.
