Accompanying Ho Quoc Dung, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister (PM) of the Government, were leaders of Hue City and representatives of local departments and agencies.
At the Archbishop Residence, the Deputy Prime Minister extended his best wishes for a peaceful and happy Christmas to the Archbishop, clergy, religious workers, and Catholic communities in the area. He also acknowledged and highly appreciated the positive contributions of the Hue Archdiocese and local parishioners to socio-economic development, social welfare activities, and the building of great national unity.
He expressed his hope that in the coming time, the Hue Archdiocese would continue to work together with local authorities and people, upholding the spirit of “living a good life and practising a good religion”, contributing to the sustainable development of Hue City, rich in cultural identity.
In response, the Archbishop, representing the Hue Archdiocese, congratulated the delegation and expressed confidence in the leadership of the Party and the State, thereby enhancing Viet Nam’s position on the international stage, becoming a strategic partner with many countries, and opening a new chapter in the increasingly positive relationship between Viet Nam and the Vatican. These results have met the expectations of Catholic communities and believers.
After visiting and extending Christmas greetings at the Archbishop Residence, the Deputy Prime Minister went on to visit Catholic families facing difficult circumstances in Thuan Hoa Ward.
*Following the programme at the Hue Archbishop Residence, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung also visited several households receiving housing support under the “Quang Trung Campaign” in Loc An Commune (Hue City).
The first stop was the house of Nguyen Van Duc in Dong Xuan Village, whose old house had completely collapsed due to natural disasters and is now being rebuilt. The delegation then visited the house of Vo Thi Tram in Luong Quy Phu Village, another household receiving support for new housing construction. The Deputy Prime Minister warmly inquired after and encouraged the families to stabilise their lives as soon as possible, while also acknowledging the prompt and responsible involvement of local authorities and forces participating in the campaign.
According to reports, Hue City has five houses that were completely destroyed and require new construction. So far, 100% of these have begun construction, with construction progress estimated at around 50%, and completion expected before January 20, 2026. Of these, two houses are rebuilt on their original sites, while three houses are being relocated to new resettlement areas with completed technical infrastructure, better living conditions, and strong community consensus.
For 40 houses that were damaged and require repairs. So far, 34 of them have been completed, reaching 85% of the plan, while the remaining six houses are expected to be finished before December 27, 2025. Hue City has committed to completing the Quang Trung Campaign ahead of the schedule assigned by the Prime Minister.
