He made the remarks at a live TV programme entitled “I choose the teaching profession” held by the Ministry of Education and Training and Vietnam Television on November 19.
Addressing the event, the Government official sent his best wishes and gratitude to workers in the education sector while highlighting the fine Vietnamese tradition of venerating teachers.
He noted that education helps to shape the core values of each person in this wide and open world.
“The strength of a nation is not only based on available natural resources, but also the knowledge built by each person’s intelligence and a developed education system with good teachers who are truly dedicated to their profession and always love their students,” the Deputy PM added.
The Deputy PM also stressed the significance of building special mechanisms for teachers so that they can feel secure to work and devote themselves to the education cause.
Within the programme, the audience met 17 teachers from a preschool in the mountainous district of Ba Thuoc in Thanh Hoa Province who have overcome many difficulties in their devotion to their job. The event also praised Nguyen Thi Nhu Yen, a teacher at a school in the poor district of Kong Chro in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai, who has spent 23 years teaching and raising disadvantaged Ba Na ethnic minority students.
