Ho Chi Minh City honours 14 distinguished teachers and awards Vo Truong Toan Prize

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training held a ceremony on November 18 to recognise outstanding teachers and present the 2024 Vo Truong Toan Prize on the 42nd anniversary of the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20, 1982–2024).

Director of the Department, Nguyen Van Hieu, highlighted the city’s progress in educational reform, particularly in shifting from knowledge-based to competency-based education and integrating English as a second language in schools. These achievements are credited to the dedication of teachers, staff, and officials in the education sector.

Chairwoman of the City People’s Council Nguyen Thi Le commended the educator’s contributions and achievements, emphasising that 14 teachers were honoured with the “Meritorious Teacher” title this year. She called this recognition a source of pride for the education sector and a testament to their efforts and commitment.

Le reaffirmed the city’s commitment to supporting educational development, urging educators to continue innovating and contributing to high-quality human resource training.

At the event, 14 teachers were awarded the title of “Meritorious Teacher,” 50 educators received the Vo Truong Toan Prize, and 14 teams were honoured with commendation flags for outstanding achievements in the 2023–2024 academic year.
