The large-scale project is organised by the Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU) and Rossotrudnichestvo, Russia’s federal agency for international humanitarian cooperation.
The project aims to enhance the professional expertise of Vietnamese teachers of Russian as a foreign language, strengthen the professional community of Russian linguists, interpreters and translators, and promote the Russian language and education in Viet Nam.
The opening ceremony and the first day’s activities were held at the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office, known as the Russian House in Ha Noi, and at Ha Noi University.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vladimir Murashkin, Director of the Russian House in Ha Noi, said the project had become a good tradition and this year would be held at eight locations across the country. He noted that the Russian language helped strengthen ties between the two peoples while offering young Vietnamese opportunities to receive full Russian Government scholarships to study at leading Russian universities.
Professor Innara Guseinova, Doctor of Philology and the project director and MSLU Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Educational Affairs, said educational and cultural cooperation formed the foundation of bilateral relations. She described the project as an honour for MSLU and said Russian in Viet Nam was a living bridge connecting students, teachers and future professionals across different fields.
Educational activities were also held at Ha Noi University, where participants explored Russian language and culture through lectures and practical sessions.
Project coordinator Professor Olga Evtushenko, Doctor of Philology, outlined the nearly two-week programme, covering more than 1,860km and travelling through Ha Noi, Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City.
The programme includes practical seminars on Russian language standards and translation theory, open classes on listening skills and visual poetry, a Russian Express language quiz, a reading competition and a multimedia exhibition on educational and scientific materials.
The project’s in-person activities will run from October 6 to 16 at eight leading schools and universities across Viet Nam.
