The information was released on October 3 at a working session of the Steering Committee for the construction of Lang Son Global Geopark and the park’s management board to review the progress of the project in establishing, constructing and developing the Lang Son Global Geopark during the 2021-2025 period.

The event was chaired by Standing Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee Duong Xuan Huyen, who is also the head of the Steering Committee for the construction of Lang Son Global Geopark.

He asked the members of the Steering Committee and the management board to promote the value of the geopark while boosting the implementation of the assigned tasks.

The project consists of 12 groups of key tasks. Of which, seven have been implemented, reaching about 60% of the plan.

It is expected that when the bidding is completed in October 2022, the relevant units will carry out investigation and survey towards completing the dossier to submit to UNESCO.

At the working session, the delegates focused on discussing measures to remove difficulties and obstacles during the operation of the management board of Lang Son Geopark, such as organisational structure, funding, means, and the coordination to speed up the preparation of the dossier for the UNESCO title.
