On the occasion, ASEAN embassies in Beijing also welcomed Zhang Lizhong as the new Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh affirmed that after 59 years of formation and development, ASEAN has become a community of 11 member states, fully reflecting the region’s diversity and dynamism. He emphasised that one of the important lessons behind ASEAN’s strength is its ability to listen to one another, respect diversity, manage differences, and build on consensus in order to move forward together.
The ambassador also highly valued the positive development of ASEAN-China relations and expressed his hope that the two sides will continue to effectively tap cooperation potential in the coming time.
Also speaking at the event, Zhang Lizhong, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre, thanked the ambassadors and representatives of ASEAN countries in Beijing for their warm welcome. He affirmed that the centre will continue to promote its role as a bridge, closely coordinate with ASEAN representative offices in China, promote exchanges, enhance mutual understanding, and expand practical cooperation among the parties.
Within the framework of the programme, delegates joined exchange activities in an atmosphere of friendship, solidarity, and close bonds within the ASEAN community in Beijing.
