On the afternoon of September 17, in Battambang Province, nearly 300km northwest of the capital Phnom Penh, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Battambang coordinated with the provincial Department of Commerce and local enterprises to organise the Viet Nam-Cambodia Investment Promotion Forum 2026.
The event was attended by about 150 delegates, including leaders of Battambang provincial agencies, the Trade Office of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, the Khmer-Vietnamese Association in Cambodia, the business communities of the two countries, and representatives of training and research institutions and organisations in the locality.
In his opening remarks, Vietnamese Consul General in Cambodia Tran Tuan Anh emphasised that Viet Nam-Cambodia relations are developing well across many fields. Within the overall relationship, economic, trade and investment cooperation needs to be further promoted in a stronger and more substantive manner, bringing increasingly concrete benefits to businesses and people of the two countries.
Consul General Tran Tuan Anh said that, based on practical work in the region, the Consulate General recognised northwestern Cambodia as an economic space with considerable potential and room for cooperation.
On behalf of the organising board, Consul General Tran Tuan Anh expressed his wish to create a substantive platform connecting authorities, enterprises, banks, infrastructure providers, universities and research institutions of the two countries. The Consulate General affirmed that it would continue working with partners to promote regular connectivity mechanisms, enabling enterprises to seek partners, exchange information, consult and support one another after the forum.
On behalf of the provincial administration, Tep Hon, Deputy Governor of Battambang, highly valued the organisation of the event, saying the forum would create favourable conditions for connecting Vietnamese enterprises with Cambodian enterprises in northwestern Cambodia.
The Battambang Deputy Governor said that, within the overall framework of the good friendship, solidarity and cooperation, as well as the deep friendship between the two countries, cooperation between Battambang and Vietnamese provinces and cities is becoming increasingly close.
To strengthen Cambodia-Viet Nam friendship and cooperation, the provincial leader said the two sides need mechanisms to promote regular and periodic events, meetings and exchanges. He also highly appreciated the important bridging role of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Battambang in consolidating bilateral relations between the two countries.
At the forum, delegates presented papers that provided useful information on the business and investment situation of Vietnamese enterprises in Cambodia, the investment and trade environment, support policies for foreign investors in Battambang, and the potential and investment opportunities in northwestern Cambodia.
Delegates also made a number of recommendations and proposals on investment and trade promotion, as well as support for Vietnamese enterprises to operate smoothly, effectively and sustainably in northwestern Cambodia.
On this occasion, the Viet Nam-Cambodia Business Connectivity and Consultancy Network in northwestern Cambodia was officially launched. The National University of Battambang and the Cambodia-Viet Nam Business Association signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation.
