Strengthening internal capabilities for breakthroughs in new growth cycle

Amid constant fluctuations in the global economy and domestic market, the greatest challenge facing businesses lies not only in identifying opportunities for expansion but also in building strong internal capabilities to realise their ambitions for sustainable development.

This was the central theme of discussions at NExT Forum 2026, held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 15. The event brought together more than 1,000 business leaders and senior executives from enterprises across ASEAN.

Discussions at the forum highlighted that rapid growth could become a double-edged sword if internal management systems fail to keep pace.

As modern tools and artificial intelligence (AI) become widely adopted, individual productivity may increase, however, organisations can still face bottlenecks if decision-making processes and cash flow are not tightly controlled. Therefore, to achieve rapid and sustained growth in the new period, business leaders need to strike a balance between innovating their approaches to implementation and preserving their companies’ fundamental core values.

Nguyen Ba Diep, Co-founder and Senior Vice Chairman of MoMo Financial Technology Group, reflected on the company’s 16-year journey, emphasising that its founding vision has remained unchanged despite constant technological innovation. Throughout its development, MoMo has stayed focused on making financial services simple, accessible, and affordable through technology, while continually adapting the ways in which it delivers them.

Nguyen Ba Diep emphasised: “We put customers at the centre of our business by understanding their real needs, simplifying the user experience and committing time to listening directly to feedback from customers across all segments to build long-term trust.”

Beyond technology, sustainable growth also requires financial resilience and effective human resource management strategies. According to Mai Huu Tin, Chairman and CEO of U&I Investment Corporation and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Business Associations (HUBA), cash flow is the most important indicator of a company's financial health, helping it remain resilient in the face of unexpected market fluctuations as it expands.

“To attract and retain talent, leaders need to create a respectful and inspiring working environment that empowers employees to realise their full potential. At the same time, the rewards of their work should be shared fairly and widely across the workforce to sustain long-term motivation and commitment,” Mai Huu Tin said, sharing his experience.
