Therefore, it is essential for us to promptly identify and counter these actions to safeguard the objectivity of history, protect the Party, the regime, and the country’s renewal efforts.
The history of the Vietnamese people, particularly revolutionary history since the founding of the Party and the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh, has been a continuous and powerful current. The successful August Revolution in 1945 is a symbol of great historical value and significance. It contributes to nurturing, educating and promoting patriotism, solidarity, and forever being a source of national pride, not only for the present but also for future generations. Yet, nearly a century later, numerous exiled reactionary organisations abroad persist in colluding with international and domestic reactionary forces in attempts to “reverse the wheel of history”, seeking to sabotage the Party, the State, and Viet Nam’s path towards socialism.
Hostile forces are thoroughly exploiting advanced inventions such as artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool to sabotage and distort history with sophisticated and unpredictable tricks. Along with that, overseas newspapers regularly organise exchanges, discussions, publish articles, speeches and video clips with content that inserts anti-government arguments, deliberately distorts and misrepresents the nature of events, historical significance and values with the aim of lowering the role and prestige of the Communist Party of Viet Nam; disintegrating the determination to move forward on the path to socialism as well as hindering the Vietnamese people's national renewal.
The August Revolution’s success in 1945 stands as the most vivid testament to the revolutionary and scientific nature of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought on national and colonial issues–creatively applied to Viet Nam’s unique revolutionary context. Only the Communist Party of Viet Nam, with its elaborate preparation, iron determination and strategic leadership, successfully shifted from political struggle for people’s livelihood and democracy to seizing the opportunity for an armed general uprising, leading to complete victory in taking power into the hands of the people nationwide.
The success of the August Revolution broke 80 years of colonial rule, ended a thousand years of feudal regime, and gave birth to the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam–the first worker-peasant state in Southeast Asia. Its victory not only underscores the Party’s brilliant leadership but also demonstrates the will and determination of the entire Party and the people united as one, opening a new era of independence, freedom, and socialism for Viet Nam.
To prevent and combat hostile plots and tactics early and from afar, it is essential to intensify communication efforts. This ensures that officials, Party members, and the broader public clearly recognise the malicious intent and evolving ploys aimed at distorting history. This must be regarded as an urgent, regular, and long-term political mission for every Party committee, authority, and mass organisation. Regularly providing updated information and viewpoints of the Party and State to officials, Party members, and the people is vital to curbing and eliminating from the root short-sighted and distorted views on historical events of the nation.
Press and media agencies need to coordinate closely to build a robust ideological defence network, focusing on key areas to create widespread impact and generate persuasive strength that make the enemy be convinced, even transformed, and thereby limiting or abandoning their malicious opposition to our Party and State.
Developing a stable and long-term team of highly skilled history experts is crucial. It is essential to promote the proactivity, dynamism and creativity of this team, in coordination with press and communication agencies, to create a breakthrough in the struggle, multiplying the strength and effectiveness in countering the enemy's wrongful viewpoints. This struggle must point out contradictions and loopholes to expose the nature, one-sidedness, short-sightedness and lack of scientific basis of the plots and distorted arguments.
Simultaneously, increased research and the summarisation of practical experiences are in order to proactively develop scientific arguments and standpoints, ready to counter and refute historical distortions.
It is important to renew methods of learning and educating about the revolutionary history of the nation for officials, Party members, and the public, especially young people, thereby fostering the spirit of revolutionary heroism, strengthening faith, and bolstering the determination to overcome all schemes and plots of the enemy.
Timely measures are needed to detect, prevent and tackle, from the root and at an early stage, the sources spreading toxic, hateful ideas and viewpoints. Social media platforms must be effectively managed to maintain control over the ideological front.
Emphasis should be placed on improving capacities to meet the demands of new skills, techniques and technological solutions, enabling each individual to use social media intelligently, creating a “filter” to protect their own information while also proactively blocking and eliminating toxic, distorted content about the country’s history, so that Viet Nam can rise and thrive in the new era and endure through time.
