Exploring “Ganh da dia” (The Cliff of Stone Plates) on mountain

At first glance, one might think this is the famous “Ganh da dia” (The Cliff of Stone Plates) in Phu Yen Province. However, this is a new “Ganh da dia” located on the mountain. This formation was revealed during the construction of the Nuoc Che Hydroelectric Project in Phuoc Nang Commune, Phuoc Son District, Quang Nam Province.

This mountainous stone formation has a unique shape, rising several metres high and stretching hundreds of metres, with round, hexagonal, and quadrangular stone plates arranged in continuous columns, creating a magnificent and intriguing sight.

The formation is located about 2 kilometres from Ho Chi Minh Road and over 10 kilometres southwest of Kham Đuc Town (Phuoc Son District). According to locals, this mountain range was previously obscured by vegetation and only partially visible. However, when the water diversion path from the main dam to the turbines was opened in 2018, the stone plate of the cliff was clearly exposed.

The stone range extends nearly 500 metres, with the clear blue Dak Che stream flowing beneath and dense forest above. Each stone plate stands nearly 5 metres tall, arranged in columns along the path, with cross-sections that are quadrangular, hexagonal, or round, forming a unique landscape. Currently, the area remains pristine and is not widely known.

The “Ganh da dia” on the mountain not only attracts nature lovers but also captivates geologists who are eager to study the formation of these unique rock structures. The plates formed millions of years ago and are a vivid testament to the power and craftsmanship of nature.

With its unique beauty and scientific value, this formation in Quang Nam promises to become a captivating destination not only for domestic tourists but also for international geologists. Discovering and preserving this site will enrich Quang Nam's tourism map and offer insight into the wonders and endless beauty of nature.
