The Thang Long-Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre, in collaboration with the Beijing Parks Management Centre, organised an exhibition on the ancient gardens of Beijing at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Site on September 11.

The event aimed to implement the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Hanoi and Beijing signed on October 30, 2022, within the framework of cultural heritage cooperation at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel — a World Heritage Site.

Speaking at the exhibition, Nguyen Thanh Quang, Director of the Thang Long-Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre, noted that Hanoi and Beijing are two ancient and beautiful cities with many similarities in their cultural and historical aspects.

The exhibition is the next cultural cooperation event following the successful 'Thang Long - Hanoi, Connecting and Converging Heritage' exhibition which was held at the Summer Palace in Beijing in May 2024.

The exhibition in Hanoi marks effective cooperation between the two organisations in preserving and promoting valuable cultural heritages of humanity.

The exhibition features over 100 photos of 11 famous historical gardens in Beijing and the China Garden Museum, including four World Heritage Sites including the Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven, the Fragrant Hills, and Zhongshan Park.

Through the photographs, the organisers aim to offer visitors a diverse perspective on historical gardens, such as royal gardens, sacrificial gardens, specialised gardens, urban parks, and museum gardens. The exhibition showcases the traditional art of gardening in China from past dynasties and the ongoing efforts in preservation and development in modern-day Beijing.

The exhibition contributes to promoting heritage, enhancing cultural exchange and cooperation, and fostering collaboration between the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the Summer Palace, as well as between Hanoi and Beijing.

The cooperative relationship between the two cities wasestablished in 1994, and their partnership in various fields has been continuously strengthened, positively contributing to the friendly relations between Vietnam and China.
