The programme will open at Kim Ngan Communal House on Hang Bac Street on the morning of January 19, with a procession from the Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Centre (50 Dao Duy Tu Street) to the communal house. This year, the procession is expected to have over 400 participants dressed in traditional attire.
The procession will carry out important rituals such as the offering ceremony to the Village God, the ancestor worship ceremony, and the raising of the “Neu” (bamboo pole) at the Kim Ngan Communal House.
Finally, the artisans will perform calligraphy and traditional folk music performances.
From January 10 to February 16, an exhibition introducing artworks under the theme "Spring Colors of the Year of Snake 2025" and a collection of zodiac animals will be held at the Hoan Kiem Lake Cultural Information Centre (2 Le Thai To Street).
In addition, other cultural spaces in the Old Quarter will host many traditional cultural activities. Specifically, craft products from traditional trade villages and folk paintings will be displayed at the Phung Hung Mural Space from January 14 to 28. The event will feature participation from many folk artisans.
In addition, there will be activities showcasing the art of carving, trimming, and arranging narcissus flowers at Kim Ngan Communal House (from January 20 to 24), as well as a banh chung (square glutinous rice cake) wrapping event at 22 Hang Buom Cultural and Arts Centre (on January 25).
From January 19 to February 28, activities will include decorating and setting up traditional Tet spaces, reproducing the Tet celebration tradition of a Hanoi family, decorating a traditional Tet space of the Red River Delta region, and calligraphy performances.
Traditional music performances in celebration of the Lunar New Year will also be held with a wide variety of artistic displays.
The highlight will be the New Year's Eve music programme to welcome the Lunar New Year at the pedestrian space around Hoan Kiem Lake.
