Hoan Kiem District is continuing to implement measures to preserve and promote heritage values to make Hanoi's Old Quarter a "must-visit" destination.
Along with the development of the country through each historical period, Hanoi's Old Quarter bears the cultural imprint of each period; the values of Hanoi's Old Quarter are important factors in identifying the urban cultural identity of the Capital.
These values are not only relics and ancient houses with special characteristics in planning, construction, and architecture with historical traces, but also cultural values that exist inside each house, each family, and each person through daily activities, culinary activities, and festivals.
2004 was a particularly important milestone in the preservation and restoration of Hanoi's Old Quarter. The Ministry of Culture and Information decided to rank Hanoi's Old Quarter as a National Historical Relic site.
Recognising that Hanoi's Old Quarter has special value in the heart of the Capital, the Party Committee and the Government of Hoan Kiem District have identified the work of preserving, restoring, and promoting the value of Hanoi's Old Quarter as a task not only of the entire political system but also a common task of the whole community.
From there, the tasks of preserving and promoting values with the joint efforts of the community, from preserving and promoting the value of tangible to intangible heritages.

According to Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee Pham Tuan Long, over the past 20 years, the work of preserving and embellishing the cultural heritage of Hanoi's Old Quarter has achieved many remarkable results. In particular, the area has become an attractive destination on the world tourism map.
The tangible and intangible heritage values of this area have always been preserved and promoted, including the restoration of traditional festivals such as: King Le Coronation Festival, Kim Ngan Communal House Festival, Bach Ma Temple Festival, and Old Quarter Mid-Autumn Festival.
Along with the good socio-economic development, the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage has always been of interest to Hoan Kiem District with many creative solutions.
In addition, many small relics have also been awakened to become attractive creative spaces for the community.
At the same time, the activities of walking streets in the district have created new tourism products for Hanoi, contributing towards promoting the development of service businesses, ensuring social security, and at the same time creating a cultural space for the people of the capital.
The 20th anniversary of Hanoi's Old Quarter receiving the National Monument Classification Certificate is an opportunity for Hoan Kiem District to review the projects and activities that have been implemented so far, and at the same time propose new directions and plans.
Hoan Kiem District will continue to innovate and create to make Hanoi's Old Quarter a "must-visit place" for domestic and foreign tourists, associated with the development of cultural industry in the spirit the Hanoi Party Committee’s Resolution No. 09-NQ/TU on "Developing cultural industry in the capital for the period 2021-2025, orientation to 2030, vision to 2045."
