Hanoi, Beijing exchange preservation and promotion of heritage values

An exhibition themed “Thang Long – Hanoi: Heritage of connection and convergence" and a seminar entitled “Beijing – Hanoi connect to promote heritage values” were two of the practical activities celebrating the 30th anniversary of the cooperation between the two cities.

Within the framework of the cooperation on cultural heritages, the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre, in collaboration with Beijing Municipal Park Administration Centre and the Summer Palace Management Office, held a ceremony to launch study and exchange activities on the preservation and promotion of heritage values between Hanoi and Beijing. The activities include the exhibition themed “Thang Long – Hanoi: Heritage of connection and convergence" and the seminar titled “Beijing – Hanoi connect to promote heritage values” at the Summer Palace World Heritage Site in Beijing, China.

This is a sideline activity of the high-ranking Hanoi delegation’s trip to Beijing, led by Nguyen Van Phong, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Municipal Party Committee, and also aims to celebrate the 30th anniversary of cooperation between the two cities.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hanoi municipal People’s Committee Ha Minh Hai expressed his hope that through the exhibition aims to introduce Beijing people and international friends to the unique cultural and historical values ​​of Thang Long-Hanoi, with its diverse tangible and intangible cultural heritages.

He also said that Hanoi people will have the chance to admire the unique cultural heritages of Beijing through the exhibition in Hanoi in September. The exhibitions will contribute to tightening the close friendship between the two cities, thereby boosting the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China.

Zhang Yong, Secretary of Party Committee and Head of the Beijing Municipal Park Administration Centre, affirmed that the exhibition and seminar were specific results of the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Beijing Municipal Park Administration Center the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre to promote heritage values and exchange expertise and improve professional qualifications in preserving and managing cultural heritages of humankind.

The “Thang Long – Hanoi: Heritage of connection and convergence” exhibition displayed nearly 100 documentaries and images in two parts, with the first introducing visitors to unique cultural features of the capital city of Hanoi and the second highlighting Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi, which has become a great source of pride for the capital city’s citizens.
