Located about 230 kilometres to the north of Hanoi, the lake boasts pristine beauty and cool weather at a height of 500-1000 metres above sea level.

In the early morning, the lake’s surface is usually covered with a layer of mist, while during other times of the day, the water’s surface acts as a giant mirror reflecting the sky and surrounding mountains and forests.

Ba Be Lake is considered to be the most beautiful in autumn when its crystal-clear water is basked in light sunshine and the lake is surrounded by golden terraced fields.

As part of the festival, the Ba Be District authorities will also introduce new tourism products, such as visiting communities around Ba Be Lake, hunting for clouds on Mount Don Den, experiencing the golden fields and walking the trails in Ba Be National Park.

One of the most exciting experiences in Ba Be Lake is riding a boat to explore tourist sites within the lake area, such as Ba Goa Island, Ao Tien, An Ma Temple, and Puong Cave.

Tourists can also visit Hua Ma Cave with a myriad of stalactites in various shapes and the breathtaking Dau Dang Waterfall meandering through the mountains.

Ba Be is one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world and the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam, with a water surface area of 650 hectares and a length of 8 kilometres.

Besides its outstanding natural beauty, Ba Be is also endowed with unique geological and geomorphological values and rich biodiversity, making it one of the favourite destinations in northern Vietnam.
