Workshop on building Ha Giang tourism brand held

A workshop on positioning and building Ha Giang tourism in linking the northeast and northwest regions took place on March 30.

The event was co-organised by Ha Giang province, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Tourism Association.

The workshop was attended by Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Shovgi Mehdizade, Ambassador of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Vietnam; leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of provinces in the region, and Tran Duc Quy, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Vice Chairman of Ha Giang Provincial People's Committee Tran Duc Quy said that in 2010, Dong Van Karst Plateau was recognised by UNESCO as an official member of the Global Geo-parks Network (GGN). This is considered the foundation to the forming of Ha Giang's tourism brand. Exploiting heritage values is associated with the preservation and promotion of the cultural identities of ethnic groups.

Organising the workshop is an important and urgent task. This is an opportunity for the province to receive cooperation, suggestions, and the sharing of experience from delegates, in order to support localities in research, come up with fundamental solutions, overcome bottlenecks, and maximize the strength of tourism resources for Ha Giang tourism.

At the conference, experts discussed and shared about domestic and world tourism development trends, as well as the need to position and build tourism brands for localities in general with Ha Giang province in particular.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong affirmed that Ha Giang province has strengthened connections with domestic and international localities to promote tourism development associated with conservation and promote the heritage and cultural identities of ethnic groups.

The Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed that Ha Giang province needed to proactively build Practical plans to promote tourism development.

The province should guide and support tourism businesses in converting activities to suit trends in new situations.
