Film festival offers contemporary perspective on Italian cinema to Vietnamese audiences

The Embassy of Italy in Hanoi, in collaboration with Rome’s Asian Film Festival will host the Italian Film Festival 2024 at  the National Cinema Centre in Hanoi from September 23 to 28.

The event will delight Vietnamese cinemagoers with six films: Io Capitano (I'm captain) by director Matteo Garrone; Palazzina Laf (Cold rolling mill) by director Michele Riondino; Zamora by director Neri Marcorè; Quell'estate con Irène (That Summer with Irène) by director Carlo Sironi; Rapito (Kidnapped) by director Marco Bellocchio; and La Chimera (The Impossible Dream) by director Alice Rohrwacher.

The selected films are among the most recent and well-known movies by Italian filmmakers, ranging from drama to comedy. Through frames ranging from reality to dreams, from humour to despair, they offer a privileged glimpse into the multifaceted modern Italian society, touching upon pressing political, economic and social topics such as migration and working conditions.

They have all been highly praised by critics and have won many prestigious awards at prestigious film festival in Europe and around the world.
