Speaking at the opening ceremony, Major General Tran Ngoc Anh, Deputy Secretary of the General Department of Politics, recounted the nation’s heroic history, especially the establishment of the Vietnamese People’s Army in Cao Bang on December 22, 1944.
For the first time in history, Vietnam had a revolutionary army which came from the people and fought for the people.
The film week is organised to raise public awareness about the historic significance of the event and affirm the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh.
The featured films also honour the great national solidarity and the great contributions of members of the armed forces.
The film week is expected to provide the audience with a clearer and more comprehensive understanding about the Vietnamese People’s Army and its development.
During the film week, from December 2 to 5, eight films will be screened, including four documentaries produced by the People’s Army Cinema and four cinematic films produced by domestic film studios.
