Nguyen Hoa Binh, former Politburo member and former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, headed the delegation.
Joining the delegation were former members of the Party Central Committee: Tran Hong Ha, former Deputy Prime Minister; Dao Ngoc Dung, former Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs; Nguyen Manh Hung, former Minister of Science and Technology; and Doan Hong Phong, former Government Inspector General.
Expressing emotion at being able to offer flowers and incense at the Martyrs’ Cemetery in the southern area of Da Nang city and the Monument to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, Nguyen Hoa Binh, former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, shared that during the resistance war for national salvation, the Da Nang area was one of the places that suffered great pain and loss. It was a place that recorded many glorious victories but also endured numerous sacrifices and losses.
According to statistics, after the merger with Quang Nam province, Da Nang city currently has more than 100,000 martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the two resistance wars. In addition, Da Nang city is also the locality with the largest number of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers nationwide, with nearly 20,000 mothers.
This reflects the resilient revolutionary spirit, patriotism and tremendous sacrifices of the people of central Viet Nam in general and the people of Da Nang in particular throughout the resistance wars. At the same time, the fierce history of war also caused this land to endure great pain and losses.
Over the years, the Party and the State have always taken good care of the relatives and families of heroic martyrs, provided care for Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, and effectively implemented policies for families with meritorious services to the revolution, and wounded soldiers.
At the event, Nguyen Hoa Binh, former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, together with the delegation, presented housing support to five relatives of families with meritorious services to the revolution, with each house worth 60 million VND; and also presented 15 gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and relatives of martyrs’ families.
