The event was jointly held by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, and the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade).
According to MPI Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, the forum was designed to connect investors and businesses of the two countries and is part of a series of events to mark 50 years of Vietnam-Australia diplomatic ties and 5 years of strategic partnership.
The Vietnamese official expressed her wish that pioneering businesses within the Australia-Vietnam Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy (EEES) will act as bridge to encourage the two countries’ enterprises to step up investment and trade activities.
She pledged that the MPI would continue working to facilitate foreign investors, including those from Australia, in conducting business in Vietnam.
The Deputy Minister expressed her confidence that economic, investment and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Australia will keep growing and continue to be an important pillar of bilateral ties.
For his part, Australian Minister for Trade and Tourism Don Farrel emphasised that Vietnam is an important partner of Australia in the region.
He added that many Australian businesses have expressed interest and taken part in the EEES with a view to establish Australia as one of Vietnam’s top trading partners.
Australia always welcomes and encourages Vietnamese enterprises to choose Australia as a safe and attractive investment destination, said the Australian minister.
At the forum, enterprises had the opportunity to learn more about the investment climate and policy in Vietnam, as well as to discuss practical measures to carry out investment and business activities in the two countries.
