German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is leading a high-ranking delegation of the German Government on an official visit to Vietnam from November 13-14, at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The German high-ranking delegation includes State Secretary, German government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit; Member of the German Parliament and Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Franziska Brantner; and German Ambassador to Vietnam Guido Hildner; along with senior officials from the Office of the German Chancellor.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was born on June 14, 1958. He completed his law degree at the University of Hamburg. He has been a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) since 1975. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1998 to 2001 and from 2002 to 2011. From 2007 to 2009, he held the position of Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of Germany. From 2011 to 2018, he served as Mayor of Hamburg. From March 2018 to December 2021, he served as Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Finance of Germany. Since December 8, 2021, he has held the position of Chancellor of Germany.
