People from all walks of life in the locality are eagerly looking forward to this national event, placing great trust and expectations in their elected representatives through each ballot.
Fishermen head offshore without forgetting their vote
After the Lunar New Year holiday, Nguyen Van Nam, a fisherman from Giang Ha Hamlet, Loc Ha Commune (Ha Tinh), has been busy preparing provisions and fishing gear for a long offshore trip.
While fishermen were hastily setting out to sea, officers from the Cua Sot Border Guard Station visited each vessel directly to disseminate information about the meaning and importance of the election, while clearly informing them of the time and location of polling stations so they could arrange their work accordingly. Thanks to timely communication, Nam proactively adjusted his fishing schedule to return on time for election day.
“Traditionally, for our first voyage of the year, we choose fishing grounds in the Gulf of Tonkin, particularly around Bach Long Vi Island, to mark the start of a new fishing season. However, as fishing trips there usually last between one and two months, we have adjusted our plan and selected more suitable fishing grounds so that we can return to the mainland in time to fulfil our rights and obligations on election day,” Nam said. He added that according to weather forecasts, a cold spell is expected on March 13;therefore, fishermen aboard his vessel will certainly return to shore before March 15.
Major Dang Ba Viet, Political Commissar of the Cua Sot Border Guard Station (Ha Tinh Province), said that in implementing the election plans of election councils at all levels and directives from the Ha Tinh Military Command on ensuring combat readiness to safeguard the election, the station has established working teams. These teams combine patrol duties to maintain local security and order with flexible election awareness campaigns, reaching fishermen at fishing ports and residents in coastal communities, ensuring that all voters, including offshore fishermen, are fully informed and able to exercise their voting rights. As a result, all voters clearly understand the significance and importance of this election.
According to the leadership of the Cua Sot Border Guard Station, information gathered from public opinion shows that most voters have actively sought to learn about the qualifications of candidates, their action programmes, and commitments as candidates for the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 tenure. They have also arranged their schedules in advance and affirmed their determination to fulfil their civic responsibilities with the highest sense of commitment.
Similar to Loc Ha Commune, Thien Cam and Cam Trung Communes are also localities in Ha Tinh Province with a large number of offshore fishing vessels.
As most residents here earn their living from the sea and often embark on long fishing trips, local Party committees and authorities have intensified communication efforts in recent times, delivering information about the election to every vessel and every household so that fishermen can fully participate and properly exercise their civic rights and duties.
Tran Thi Nga, a voter and fisherman in Cam Trung Commune, said that her family frequently ventures offshore for long periods, making it difficult for the couple to remember the exact timing of important events.
Understanding this particular circumstance, whenever boats return to port or when her family is present in the locality, officers from the Thien Cam Border Guard Station take the opportunity to visit their home to provide guidance, reminders, and detailed information about election day. Therefore, on March 15, the couple will arrange their time to arrive early at the polling station to carry out their sacred civic right and duty.
At fishing ports and coastal villages across Ha Tinh, it is easy to see that amid the bustling rhythm of daily livelihoods, information about the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 tenure continues to spread from the wharf to the boats. Voters here are eagerly looking ahead to the great national day, placing their trust and expectations in the representatives they will choose through each ballot.
Proactively developing plans and promptly addressing emerging issues
Vung Ang Ward is one of the localities hosting numerous key national and provincial projects in Ha Tinh Province. As a result, the area has a large number of enterprises as well as officials and workers, with population changes occurring frequently and continuously. This has created considerable challenges in reviewing, updating, managing, and guiding voters.
According to Vo Thi Nhu Long, Vice Chairwoman of the Vung Ang Ward Election Committee, with a proactive approach and close monitoring of the locality, alongside regular updates on population changes, the voter list has so far been publicly posted at 16 polling stations as well as at the offices of the Party Committee and the Ward People’s Committee in accordance with regulations. The ward currently has a total of 12,989 voters, including 12,019 permanent residents and 970 temporary residents. The Ward Election Committee continues to monitor voter fluctuations in order to review, adjust, and supplement the lists in line with regulations.
According to leaders of the Vung Ang Ward Police, in recent times, alongside issuing plans and implementing measures to ensure security and order for the election, the ward police have developed detailed contingency plans for deploying forces to handle possible situations and maintain security at polling stations on election day. At the same time, they have carried out specialised plans to safeguard the Party’s ideological foundation, ensure security among workers and on cyberspace, and review and verify personnel serving the election in accordance with regulations. Authorities have also taken proactive measures to closely monitor developments across key sectors, localities, and priority groups, while strengthening communication and guiding public opinion, and tightening management of online activities to promptly detect, prevent, and address acts that exploit the election to spread misinformation, incite disturbances, or complicate security and public order.
Speaking with a reporter from Nhan Dan Newspaper about preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 tenure, Duong Tat Thang, Standing Vice Chairman of the Ha Tinh Provincial Election Committee, said that in close adherence to directives from the central authorities, election preparations in the province have been carried out seriously and methodically by all levels and sectors, ensuring both progress and quality in accordance with the law and central guidance.
“From now until election day, we will continue to direct relevant units and localities to review, adjust, and check the posted voter lists, while keeping track of voter changes in preparation for the election. Training and guidance will continue to be provided for members of the secretariats of election-related organisations on the procedures for compiling election results. We will also guide the handover of documents and materials as well as the consolidation of election results; step up information and communication work; strengthen monitoring of grassroots developments; and regularly urge, guide, and address difficulties and obstacles faced by localities. All efforts are aimed at ensuring that the election is conducted in a democratic, equal, lawful, safe, and cost-effective manner, truly becoming a great national event for the entire people,” the Standing Vice Chairman of the Ha Tinh Election Committee emphasised.
