He made the call during a reception for a delegation from South Australia led by Governor Le Van Hieu on June 2.

According to Phong, Ho Chi Minh City and several Australian states such as Queensland and North Australia have enjoyed sound relations over the past years. He said that two-way trade in 2015 reached nearly US$600 million and Australia is currently 18th largest investor in the city with 150 projects valued at over US$187 million.

He expressed hope that as the first Vietnamese to become a Governor in Australia, Le will do his utmost to elevate relations between South Australia and Ho Chi Minh.

The South Australia Governor said that the delegation’s visit aims to promote co-operation between the two sides.

Enterprises from the Australian state are seeking investment and co-operation opportunities in education, medical and healthcare skill training, he noted, adding that collaboration would be significant to enhancing relations between two countries.
