This came from a meeting between Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party’s Committee Nguyen Van Dua and Johannesburg city manager Trevor Fowler as part of his visit to South Africa from June 28-30.
The Vietnam official conveyed his regards to South Africa’s former President Nelson Mandela, a great friend of Vietnamese people.
Trevor Fowler described the visit of the Ho Chi Minh City delegation a manifestation of the friendship between the two cities as well as the people of the two countries.
The two leaders briefed each other on each city’s development and noted with pleasure the achievements the twin cities have recorded over the past time.
The Ho Chi Minh City officials were introduced to the development strategy of Johannesburg and experience in activity management, especially in public transport.
They visited several facilities in charge of managing and operating trains and buses in South Africa’s largest city, which also ranks second in size in Africa.
Earlier, they paid working visits to Israel and Mozambique to exchange experience in urban management.
