Nen was born in 1957 in Tay Ninh Province and has previously held various posts, including Chief of the Party Central Office, Chairman of the Government Office and Tay Ninh Party Secretary, before being named the Party leader of Ho Chi Minh City in October 2020.
Speaking at the event, President Vo Van Thuong congratulated Nen, highlighting his outstanding performance as a senior Party official, especially in dealing with complicated issues facing the southern economic hub.
He expressed his expectations that Nen will make many more contributions to the Party and the development of Ho Chi Minh City.
For his part, Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen expressed his happiness to receive the 45-year Party membership badge and said he would keep up his pledges when joining the Party so as not to disappoint the people and the forefathers.
