The 76km belt road will run through Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Long An.
The project requires a total investment of nearly 75.4 trillion VND (3.2 billion USD) which will be sourced from central and local budgets, including over 24 trillion VND (1 billion USD) from Ho Chi Minh City’s budget.
The project is scheduled to be implemented from 2022 to 2027, with the groundbreaking ceremony expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2023.
The project will be divided into eight component projects which will be assigned to localities to complete.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Council also approved the conversion of the forest use purpose to another purpose to implement the project.
At the meeting, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council approved investment in increasing the connection of bus routes with urban railway line No.1 - the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien route, in addition to supplementing the medium-term public investment plan for the 2021-2025 period.
