Hung Yen currently has nearly 700,000 young people aged 16 to 35, accounting for approximately 17.1% of the province’s total population and nearly 28.7% of its workforce. Recently, movements promoting youth startups and economic development have been implemented with the aim of fostering a spirit of self-reliance and career building, while encouraging the determination to achieve legitimate prosperity.
At the provincial level, Hung Yen has established a startup investment club and fostered over 700 exemplary youth-led economic development models. The province has organised more than 150 career guidance and startup forums for 96,000 Youth Union members and young people, facilitated employment for over 5,500 youths, and provided loan support as well as transfers of scientific and technical advancements to 52 youth startup projects.
The Hung Yen Provincial Youth Union effectively maintains 686 “Community Digital Technology Teams”, involving over 30,000 Union members with information technology expertise.
At the conference, officials, Union members, and young people from Hung Yen raised various opinions and proposals for the provincial leaders. These contributions focused on five key thematic areas: startups, innovation, and digital economic development; employment, vocational training, and human resource development; and the construction of new rural areas, civilised urban environments, and environmental protection. ...culture, quality of life, and social welfare for youth; and participation in government building and contributing to the province's development.
At the dialogue, Chairman of the Hung Yen Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen stated that the province would continue to refine its institutions, mechanisms, and policies to create the most favorable environment for the comprehensive development of young people. He also directed all levels and sectors to shift decisively from a management-oriented mindset to a service-oriented one, acting as partners to the youth.
The Chairman urged departments, agencies, and units to implement comprehensive solutions supporting youth in innovation, startups, and employment. Key priorities include: building an innovation ecosystem that connects experts, schools, research institutes, and businesses; strengthening education in STEM, AI, digital skills, and career guidance; fostering employment, vocational training, and access to preferential capital; and promoting smart agriculture, OCOP products, intellectual property rights, and the commercialisation of innovations. Additionally, efforts will focus on attracting young talent, investing in creative spaces, and organizing cultural, sports, and volunteer activities.
On this occasion, the province awarded Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee to 12 collectives and 4 individuals in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the movement to apply scientific and technological advancements and innovation, thereby contributing to the province’s socio-economic development.
