The opening ceremony featured a special arts programme, drawing the participation of popular singers, 300 circus artists from the Viet Nam Circus Federation, the Ha Hoi Dance Troupe, and art colleges in Hung Yen Province.
Taking place across Pho Hien, Son Nam and Hong Chau wards, the three-day festival includes the worship of Mother Goddesses of the three realms, water processions, palanquin parades, and performances of ca tru, trong quan singing and water puppetry, alongside food fairs and folk games.
The festival aims to highlight the cultural legacy of the historic Pho Hien trading port while preserving and promoting local traditional values.
It forms part of a diverse programme of cultural, artistic and culinary events hosted by Hung Yen Province during the Reunification Day – International Workers’ Day holiday (April 30 –May 1).
Other highlights include the Lac Long Quan Temple Festival, Tran Temple Festival, Hung Yen Culinary Festival, a thematic exhibition on Pho Hien, and a display of ornamental plants.
