During the resistance against the US for national salvation, predecessor units of Brigade 170 directly engaged in combat, driving the destroyer Maddox out of Viet Nam’s territorial waters and shooting down eight aircraft over the northern sea and airspace. These actions marked the first victories of the Viet Nam People’s Navy on August 2 and 5, 1964.

Established on February 12, 1979, after nearly 47 years of construction and development, officers and soldiers of Brigade 170 have consistently overcome difficulties, upheld the traditions of previous generations and remained determined to build a comprehensively strong unit. The brigade has continuously improved the quality of combat readiness training, enhanced its ability to respond effectively to situations, and ensured high standards in technical support, contributing to the firm protection of national maritime sovereignty.
