A delegation, led by Ho Thanh Hoan, Deputy Director of the Naval Force’s Political Department, paid a working visit to a number of islands in the Truong Sa (Spratly) Special Zone, Khanh Hoa Province, and the DK1 platform houses, from April 17 to 23.

Before the voyage, a group from the delegation led by Nguyen Trung Kien, Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Head of the delegation, came to offer incense and flowers in remembrance of the Gac Ma soldiers at the Gac Ma Soldiers Memorial Site in Khanh Hoa Province.

The Gac Ma Soldiers Memorial Site was built on a sand hill to the east of Nguyen Tat Thanh Boulevard, covers 2.5 hectares, and was inaugurated in July 2017. It is dedicated to 64 officers and soldiers of the Viet Nam People’s Navy who heroically sacrificed their lives while defending the nation’s sovereignty.
