IPhO winner honoured with Labour Order

Nhan Dan Online – Ngo Phi Long, winner of the 2013 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), will receive the Labour Order, third class for his excellent achievements at Olympiad competitions in the last two years.

The Ministry of Education and Training has announced its plan to hold a ceremony later this month to honour Long and 33 other high school students who won medals at regional and international Olympiad competitions this year. 47 others who scored high marks on the 2013 national university entrance exam will also be recognised.

Long, a 12th grader from Son La provincial High School for the Gifted, has been named the ‘golden boy’ of Vietnamese education for consistently winning medals at prestigious academic contests.

This May, Long was also awarded the gold medal at the 14th Asian Physics Olympiad in Indonesia. He also took gold at the 2012 International Physics Olympiad in Estonia.

The students will be received by President Truong Tan Sang at the Presidential Palace, and will receive certificates of merit signed by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education and Training.
