A ceremony honouring the Vietnamese team attending the AIMO 2025 finals was held at Tien Phong newspaper headquarters on August 6.
AIMO was first held in 2012 by the Asian Mathematics Olympiad Committee, attracting participation from over 20 countries and territories.
This is a prestigious academic platform that not only allows students to challenge themselves in mathematics through English, but also helps develop logical thinking, critical reasoning, and global integration skills.
Viet Nam officially began participating in AIMO in 2019 and has quickly made its mark, securing over 200 international medals since then.
In 2025, AIMO was co-organised in Viet Nam by the Hoa Hoc Tro magazine (under Tien Phong newspaper) and Tien Phong JSC, under the direction and media sponsorship of Tien Phong newspaper.
The Vietnamese team competed at the AIMO 2025 international finals held at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies from August 3 to 5, alongside over 3,500 contestants from 21 countries and territories. After intense competition, the Vietnamese team achieved an impressive result: one championship title, ten gold medals, seven silver medals, and four bronze medals.
Notably, Phan Thanh Huy, a student from Ha Noi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, was awarded the AIMO 2025 Championship title, leaving a remarkable impression of the Vietnamese team on the international stage.
Speaking at the event, journalist Phung Cong Suong, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong newspaper and Director of the Viet Nam Young Talent Fund, stated that the students’ achievements were more than just titles on a record sheet. “They represent a long journey of perseverance, effort, and those moments when the students dared to challenge themselves to bring pride to their families, schools, and the nation,” he said.
“Today’s success is not the final destination, but the beginning of a new journey. I believe that the experiences at AIMO 2025 will empower you with confidence, motivation, and strong foundations to keep striving forward, becoming global citizens who bring honour to Viet Nam,” Suong shared.
