IPU Forum of Young Parliamentarians to be held in September

On February 10, National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue presided over a working session with the NA Committee for External Relations, the NA Office, and relevant agencies , to discuss the organisation of the ninth Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Forum of Young Parliamentarians.

Accordingly, the event is scheduled to be held in Hanoi,in September 2023.

Delegates at the meeting agreed that the forum is the focal event of multilateral diplomacy of the Vietnamese parliament in 2023.

Following the organisation of the 132nd IPU Assembly and the 41st General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the upcoming forum will be a chance for Vietnam to promote its image among international friends.

Speaking at the forum, NA Chairman Hue emphasised that the forum aims to boost the role of young parliamentarians and youth engagement, in parliamentary activities and put forth recommendations based on the youth perspectives, about the IPU’s activities and agenda, building capacity, and expand the youth’s approach to issues of common concern.

The top legislator also suggested agencies and units organise a booth to introduce Vietnams OCOP products, considering this as one of the highlights to attract a large number of businesses and entrepreneurs, to visit and seek cooperative opportunities.
