Party chief extends Tet wishes to leaders, former leaders, compatriots, soldiers nationwide

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong extended his best New Year wishes to leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front, key officials of some centrally-run agencies and Hanoi, and compatriots, soldiers and overseas Vietnamese (OVs) at a get-together on January 29, or the 27th day of the last lunar month.

The Party chief said that 2021 was the first year implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress with many important events. In the context of difficulties and challenges caused by the COVID-19 pamdemic and natural disasters, but with efforts, will, bravery and creativity of the entire Party, people and army, Vietnam has overcome difficulties and challenges, and achieved many important and comprehensive results in all fields.

He stressed the need to strive to fulfil all socio-economic recovery and development tasks at the highest level; stabilise the macro-economy; address difficulties for production and business activities, develop the fields of culture, education - training, science - technology; protect the environment and adapt to climate change.

Vietnam sends officers to UN Interim Security Force for Abyei

The Ministry of National Defence on January 28 handed over the President’s decisions to seven officers who will be sent to the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), a mission established by the UN Security Council in 2011 for peacekeeping in Sudan.

This is the first time Vietnam has deployed officers to the UNISFA at the invitation of the UN, Major General Hoang Kim Phung, Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, said at the ceremony in Hanoi, adding that the country plans to deploy an engineering unit to the mission in the time ahead.

He urged the officers to fulfill their tasks assigned by the UN, while setting up good relations with the mission and the locality to support the engineering unit.

The Editorial Board of the Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper has digitised and updated information of the materials relating to the Documents of the 13th National Party Congress on the Vietnamese and English, French, Russian, Spanish and Chinese pages of the newspaper.

Documents of the 13th National Party Congress in five foreign languages on the Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper were digitised on the basis of a multilingual book collecting the documents of the 13th National Party Congress. Available in English, French, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Laos, and Khmer, the book is being published by the Central Commission for External Relations (CCER) in partnership with the National Political Publishing House.

The content includes the following parts: Opening speech; Political reporting; Resolution; Closing speech (translated verbatim according to the published Document of the 13th National Party Congress (Vietnamese version)). In addition, the book series also added an appendix, including Biographies of 18 Politburo members; list of Politburo members and Secretariat; Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission; and the list of the Party Central Committee term XIII, updated until October 2021.

Vietnam’s jackfruit exports to Australia in 2021 surged by 20 percent year-on-year, according to the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia.

The office has worked with importers to enhance the export of Vietnamese jackfruit to the Australian market, while focusing on developing trademark for the product.

From now to the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, about 40 tonnes of finished jackfruit will be exported to the market.

The office will continue measures to promote the export of jackfruit in the coming time, including introducing the product in supermarkets, via social networks, and online exhibitions among others.

European firms optimistic about Vietnam’s trade and investment environment

European companies ended 2021 more positive and optimistic about Vietnam’s trade and investment environment, according to the Business Climate Index (BCI) announced by the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) on January 27.

The BCI reached the highest point following the fourth wave of COVID-19 infections, with positive sentiment reaching 61 points, a jump of 42 points since the third quarter of 2021 after the end of lockdowns and the re-opening of normal commercial operations.

The BCI remains below its pre-pandemic peak. However, it is clear evidence that confidence is returning to the market.

Vietnam conducts vaccination campaign throughout Lunar New Year

People are vaccinated against COVID-19 in Vinh Phuc Province.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health is carrying out a fast-tracked vaccination campaign for all eligible children and adults from January 29 to February 28, including the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

The spring vaccination campaign will take place on a national scale within communes, wards and towns throughout the country.

The Ministry of Health has asked provincial and municipal governments to direct local health authorities to ensure that the campaign is conducted in an effective and safe manner so as to not waste the allocated vaccines.

Over 75 percent of students to return to school after Tet

More than 17.12 million, or 75.71 percent of the total pupils and students nationwide, are likely to return to school for face-to-face learning from February 7 after Lunar New Year (Tet) holidays, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.

Particularly, 100 percent of high school students in all the 63 cities and provinces across the nation will resume direct learning from the date. At the same time, about 91 percent of the colleges and universities plan to open for face-to-face studying after Tet.

The ministry reported that the rate of students taking direct learning as of January 25 was 69.3 percent with nearly 15.68 million students going to school. Fourteen cities and provinces have allowed students to study directly at schools, while 30 combined online and face-to-face learning, and 19 others organised learning activities online or through television.

A photo exhibition took place at the Vietnam Culture and Arts Exhibition Centre in Hanoi, highlighting the concern of Party and State leaders for the people as well as the spring atmosphere around the country.

The exhibition displayed 40 documentary photos featuring the concerns and affection of President Ho Chi Minh and the Party and State leaders over generations for the people around the country through their letters, poems and visits on the occasion of Tet (Lunar New Year) Festival.

There were also 100 photos capturing the beautiful landscapes as well as the joyful atmosphere in all regions during spring.
