The Japanese diplomat was presented with the title in recognition of his contribution to socio-economic development of Hanoi as well as promoting investment, cooperation and friendship between the capital city and Japan, Ha Noi Moi Newspaper reported.
The Japanese diplomat thanked the city’s leader for the honour and also for all support by the city during his 3-year office term in Vietnam.
He said he felt proud to have taken part in Hanoi’s key projects, including Noi Bai International Airport and Nhat Tan Bridge, the symbol of Vietnam-Japan relations.
