Best initiatives on building smart cities awarded

The best initiatives of the Smart City 2024 competition were awarded at a ceremony on December 18, 2024, during the Week of Ho Chi Minh City Innovation, Startup, Entrepreneurship 2024 (WHISE 2024).

In Group A for Digital Transformation Projects, the first prize - worth 50 million VND — went to a project on developing an AI-based website for screening thalassemia.

The second and third prizes were presented to the Vietnam Drone Soccer project focusing on smart education and training in drone technology, and the VierCycle project for an electric bicycle ecosystem, respectively.

In Group B for Biotechnology Projects, a high-density probiotics production project aimed at agricultural environmental protection was honoured with the first prize - worth 30 million VND.

A Bio Garlic HD project for a fermented black garlic probiotic solution in poultry farming and an Oncology USH project for software aiding in early diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer, received second and third prizes, respectively.

In the student category, which encouraged early engagement with STEM education through robotics assembly and programming, Nam Sai Gon Primary-Secondary-High School, Robot Academy in Hoc Mon District, and Thu Duc High School were named as the respective winners in the Elementary, Secondary and High School levels.

The Smart City 2024 competition is an annual event organised by the Saigon Hi-Tech Park Incubation Centre, aiming to harness the potential of young innovators and tech startups. This year attracted over 100 projects, with more than 60 selected as promising technology startups from various universities.
