Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Chairman of the PCC’s Inspection Commission, affirmed that in the heroic epic of the country, there is an important contribution of Khanh Hoa Province.
The attack and victory on April 2, 1975, contributed to creating a combined strength, together with the whole country to create the great victory of the historic Spring of 1975; a milestone acting as a solid foundation and spiritual support for Khanh Hoa Province to move forward.
If in history, Khanh Hoa is a symbol of patriotism, of heroic and heroic will, today, Khanh Hoa is striving and determined to develop economy, society, national defence, security, and build a strong political system, worthy of the sacrifices of previous generations, he noted.
In his speech, Nghiem Xuan Thanh, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee emphasised that 50 years ago, implementing the policy of the Party Central Committee and the Politburo, seizing the historical opportunity, the Standing Committee of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee met to discuss measures to implement the directive of the Regional Party Committee and well prepare for coordination in liberating Khanh Hoa Province.
On April 2, Nha Trang Town and the districts of Van Ninh, Vinh Xuong and Dien Khanh were liberated; on April 3, Cam Ranh Town and Cam Ranh Military Complex were liberated.
From April 14 - 29, the army and people of Khanh Hoa Province continued to join forces with the Vietnam People’s Navy units to attack and liberate the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago, the sacred land of the Vietnamese Fatherland.
Recognising and praising the achievements of the Party Committee, Government and people of Khanh Hoa Province in the fight for national liberation, the Party and State awarded the people and the People’s Armed Forces of Khanh Hoa Province the noble title: the Hero of the Armed Forces.
