After a poor start, Minh, the world No. 9 and second seed at the tournament, came back to secure his first win against unseeded Malaysia’s rival who is currently ranked 76th in the world after 58 minutes.

Suffering from injuries incurred prior to the tournament Minh did not have a good start in his first game last night.

The Vietnamese participant will next face host player Mitchell Wheller this afternoon, who won 21/16, 22/20 over Lucas Bui in the first round.

Minh is expected to enjoy another win as Wheller is only ranked 705th.
