Established in 1993, the National Architecture Awards are among Viet Nam’s most prestigious official architectural awards. They aim to promote architectural creativity, guide the development of Vietnamese architecture, and raise public awareness of architectural art.

The awards are organised and presented every two years. They are recognised as a qualifying basis for other prestigious national honours, including the State Award for Literature and Arts and the Ho Chi Minh Prize, as well as international awards for architectural achievements.

The National Architecture Awards 2026–2027 will consider entries in four main categories: building architecture; interior and exterior architecture; planning, landscape architecture, and urban design; and architectural research, theory, and criticism.

The building architecture category covers residential buildings (including apartment blocks, commercial housing, mixed-use housing, resettlement housing, social housing, dormitories, official residences, and individual houses); public architecture (including mixed-use commercial and service buildings, resorts, offices, schools, hospitals, healthcare facilities, theatres, museums, exhibition halls, arts centres, cultural palaces, community houses, and religious works); industrial architecture (including factories, warehouses, workshops, industrial clusters, export processing zones, and other production facilities); special structures (including sports complexes, stadiums, airports, railway stations, ports, bridges, and roads); and projects involving the conservation, restoration, or adaptive reuse of architectural heritage.

In the planning category, eligible entries include urban planning, construction planning for inter-commune and commune areas, rural planning, planning for functional zones, landscape architecture, and urban design.

Under the architectural research, theory, and criticism category, the awards will accept research, theoretical, and critical studies; specialist architecture and planning journals; and architectural films published, released, or screened within the specified period.

The awards encourage new and innovative design ideas that meet the criteria of Vietnamese green architecture and applicable international standards. They also prioritise community impact and positive contributions to architectural development.

Eligible entrants include Vietnamese citizens whose works or projects are located in Viet Nam or abroad, as well as foreign nationals with architectural works or projects in Viet Nam. Each individual or group of authors may submit multiple entries.

The National Architecture Awards 2026–2027 will comprise a Grand Prize, along with Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards in each category and specialist field, as well as a prize for a work selected by public vote.

Applications must include hard-copy documents and an online registration link. The deadline for submissions is December 15, 2026.

Hard-copy applications should be sent to the Organising Committee of the National Architecture Awards, Viet Nam Association of Architects, at No. 40 Tang Bat Ho Street, Ha Noi. Detailed information on the rules, scope, criteria, and registration procedures is available on the association’s websites: www.tapchikientruc.com.vn and www.kienviet.net.
