The event, also attended by the Chinese and Australian diplomats as honourary guests, attracted more than 1,000 participants.

Various sport and cultural activities that highlight the ASEAN countries’ cultural traits were organised, helping tighten the solidarity and community spirit of the bloc.

Members brought to the event their traditional cuisine, with the Vietnamese delegation offering pho bo (beef noodle soup), fried spring rolls, Vietnamese baguette filled with pâté, and milk coffee.

The annual ASEAN Family Day is intended to promote solidarity and friendship among ASEAN members through cultural, sport and culinary exchanges. It is observed in many cities all over the world by ASEAN diplomatic missions, aiming at consolidating and raising public awareness of ASEAN – a “unity in diversity” community.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
