Nhan Dan Editor-in-Chief visits Ho Chi Minh City Press Centre

Member of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh, visited the Ho Chi Minh City Press Centre on April 11.

According to its leader, the centre has promoted its role and mission of providing official information in various areas, including the control of the COVID-19 pandemic and the city’s economic recovery.

The Ho Chi Minh City Press Centre organised 144 events, press conferences and seminars, with the participation of more than 7,000 people in 2022. It also produced, edited and cited 3,000 articles, published on its website and fan page and held 145 live streams on Youtube, TikTok and Facebook. In addition, 52 online meetings were held with the participation of 132 city leaders.

Minh, who is also Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Information and Education and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, praised the Press Centre for its professional and creative activities. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the centre collaborated with the Information and Education Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, to provide daily information on the anti-pandemic situation, helping change the way the information is provided to the people.

Minh also commended the Press Centre for taking advantage of technology, to have very creative and effective ways to timely provide official and transparent information, to satisfy people’s needs, especially in the context of false and fake news spreading.

The Nhan Dan Editor-in-Chief also pointed out challenges caused by using social networks and artificial intelligence to influence society, while sharing experiences in renewing Nhan Dan Newspaper, as well as skills in implementing digital transformation and using social networks in press agencies.

In particular, he noted that the Press Centre must have an orientation to develop data journalism and press graphics, to improve communication effectiveness.
