The Communist Review — the magazine of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) — and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Ninh Binh Province to organise the event.

This is one of the activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of UNESCO recognising the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

The event was attended by Doan Minh Huan, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee, with more than 130 delegates representing managers, experts, scientists, designers, gift product creators, advertisers, distributors, and OCOP product manufacturing facilities.

Tran Song Tung, Vice Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, said that Ninh Binh has great potential to produce and consume gift products and tourist souvenirs because of the diversity of its natural and cultural conditions, along with the large numbers of tourists to the area.

Currently, the province has 77 recognised craft villages and 183 OCOP products.

However, the number of units and businesses participating in the production and trading of gifts and tourist souvenir products is not commensurate with the local potential and advantages. There is still a lack of policy mechanisms to support organisations and individuals who research, design, produce, and distribute tourist gifts and souvenirs.

At the conference, delegates focused the discussion on two main topics: assessing the current status of Ninh Binh's souvenir and tourist gift products; and researching solutions, production models, and development and promotion policy mechanisms for Ninh Binh tourism gift products.

Based on this conference, Ninh Binh province will promote the development of the market for gift products and tourist souvenirs in the coming time; organise annual competitions to create samples of gift products and souvenirs; annually organise a market for gifts and tourist souvenirs in the Ancient Capital region; and research and supplement a number of contents in Resolution No. 105 of the Provincial People's Council on a number of policies to support the province's tourism development in the period 2023-2030.
