The plan aims to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of the prime minister’s Decision No. 245/QD-TTg (dated February 5, 2025), approving the master plan for the development and application of nuclear energy through 2030, with a vision to 2050.
At the same time, it translates the goals and orientations for developing and applying radiation and radioisotopes across sectors and fields into concrete solutions and resources for implementation, linked to the assignment of responsibilities to ministries, sectors, and localities in carrying out the master plan. It also sets out a roadmap that identifies key priorities, timelines, and resources for the major programmes, projects, and schemes to be given investment priority.
Under the plan, the research, application, and training institutions in the nuclear energy field will upgrade their technical facilities, improve the quality of human resources, and enhance operational effectiveness.
In line with the assigned responsibilities, relevant authorities will implement several key projects, including upgrading and completing the national network for monitoring and early warning of environmental radiation; strengthening the research-and-development capacity and technical support role of the Viet Nam Atomic Energy Institute; developing an investment project for a Cyclotron accelerator and a laboratory system in Ha Noi to conduct research and develop radiopharmaceuticals; and enhancing national radiological medicine capacity while organising nationwide medical exposure control in accordance with guidance from the International Atomic Energy Agency and the World Health Organisation.
