Outstanding feature film and documentary scriptwriting honoured

An awarding ceremony for the 2023-2024 Feature Film and Documentary Scriptwriting Competition towards the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - 2030) was held in Hanoi on October 1.

In accordance with the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Decision No.1326/QD-BVHTTDL (dated May 25, 2023) on the 2023-2024 Feature Film and Documentary Scriptwriting Competition towards the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2030), the Department of Cinema held a launch ceremony and implemented the organisation of the competition.

Eight months after launching and with two months of receiving scripts (from February 1, 2024, to April 1, 2024), the contest has attracted the participation of professional and amateur screenwriters and writers nationwide, including authors who submitted two scripts in one category or had scripts competing in both the documentary and feature film categories; there were young authors aged 25-35 while the oldest author was over 80 years old. The Organising Committee received scripts from nearly 70 authors nationwide.

The contest is an important task assigned by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to the Department of Cinema, to honour the historical values, ideology, and revolutionary spirit of the Party through a century of building, maturing, directing, and leading the Vietnamese revolution, the Vietnamese people are loyal, steadfast, innovative, and creative in fighting to protect national independence, thus building a nation with a rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilisation.
