Pham Thi My Hoa, Vice President of the Hanoi Women’s Union, said that the organising board called on all officials, civil servants, public employees, workers and students in Hanoi to wear Ao Dai on Mondays and Fridays during ‘Hanoi Ao Dai Month’.

At the same time, women are encouraged to wear Ao Dai during commemorative activities and important events at their workplaces. This will be a practical action to preserve, promote, and spread the value of the traditional Ao Dai, Hoa noted.

“Hanoi Ao Dai Month is not only an occasion to honour the beauty of Ao Dai but also to express love, solidarity, and responsibility in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values. With the enthusiastic response of women, Hanoi Ao Dai Month 2024 will be a success, contributing to building an elegant, civilised, and modern Hanoi imbued with traditional identity,” the Vice President of the Hanoi Women's Union added.

On this occasion, the Hanoi Women’s Union and sponsors presented 50 scholarships and 50 traditional Ao Dai sets to high school students in difficult circumstances throughout the city.

A forum entitled “Traditional Ao Dai - Cultural values, preservation and development in the contemporary context” was held at the ceremony, discussing the history and development of Ao Dai, changes in sewing and wearing Ao Dai, as well as solutions to preserve and develop traditional Ao Dai.
