At the event, which was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Thao, the embassy’s staff, and leaders of many Vietnamese associations in the country, the members recalled the memories of their trips to Truong Sa arranged by the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese (OV) Affairs and the Vietnam People’s Navy.
Over the past year, the club has made practical contributions to spreading the love for the homeland’s sea and islands among the Vietnamese community, while calling for donations for the “the whole nation for Truong Sa” programme. In the latest trip, two OVs in Hungary handed over 3,000 EUR (over 3,200 USD) to the programme.
Ambassador Thao acknowledged the club’s activities that help consolidate the OVs’ confidence in the safeguarding of the nation’s sovereignty over sea and islands, as well as strengthen their love for the homeland.
She expressed her hope that the club will increase its membership in the coming time, enhance solidarity and have more practical activities that contributes to protecting and developing the nation’s sea and islands.
